If you’re looking for healthy and tasty gluten free eats in San Diego, look no further than Peace Pies. In addition to being gluten free, everything on the menu is also raw, vegan, and soy free. Basically, it’s free of everything but flavor!
Gluten Free San Diego
Peace Pies offers refreshing smoothies, flavorful salads, amazing entrees, and delicious desserts. Let me just say that when I searched for a gluten free restaurant in Ocean Beach, I wasn’t looking for anything raw or vegan, but when I stumbled up on this spot, I was more than happy to give them my money.
Everything looked amazing. I had no idea how flavorful raw food could be, or all of the things you could do with raw vegetables. This food is art. It’s colorful and it’s good. I don’t have the patience to make it all myself, but I will more than happily hand my money to people who do!
Tasty Gluten Free Entrees
After my first look at the menu, I ordered the awesome alfredo- zucchini linguini tossed with creamy cashew alfredo with chopped tomatoes and cheezy kale flakes. The flavor was amazing, especially the cashew alfredo. You won’t find this on the menu anymore, but that’s because Peace Pies is always coming up with great new recipes.
Delicious Gluten Free Deserts
I also grabbed a chocolate almond butter bar for dessert. Another win! These bars are stored in the fridge, and while the cold temp is what holds the creamy ingredients together, it make for a major bonus when you’re strolling to the beach on a warm day.
I enjoyed all the raw and gluten free eats at Peace Pies so much that I’ve been back numerous times on other trips to San Diego. Everything at Peace Pies is delicious – from the tuna that is not tuna, to the cheese that is not cheese. I may or may not have had some other desserts, too. The cosmic coconut cream pie is another winner. Mmm…
Atmosphere
Besides the great food and the incredibly kind staff, Peace Pies commits to sourcing the freshest local ingredients from local farmers. They compost all of the food scraps and are a zero-waste business. I really can’t say enough great things about this place.

Locations
Peace Pies has two locations, but the Encinitas one is currently closed to a fire at a neighboring business. I visited the Ocean Beach location, which is a small storefront on Voltaire Street.
Looking for something fun to do after chowing down? Get out on the ocean with La Jolla Kayak! Walk along the beach or take the short drive over to Sunset Cliffs if it’s later in the day. Fill your belly, and then fill your soul.
